Hills District Martial Arts: Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo & Hapkido

The Oaths

Taekwondo is about more than the physical. Our club prizes certain traits in our members that are reflected by our Oaths. The Oaths are specific to certain classes and are usually recited at the beginning and/or end of the class during the bowing procedure.

The Junior Oath

Our Junior Oath is recited at the beginning and end of every Taekwondo Kids class. A simple but powerful message. As a parent, reminding your kids of the oath they take at Taekwondo can be a great way to relate their training back to their every day life!

Every Day

In Every Way

I Will Do My BEST

The Club Oath

The Club Oath is used in all classes from 7 years and older. It is a little more detailed than the Junior Oath with some longer words, which gives a good opportunity for parents and intructors to introduce more important societal ideas to children. In the younger years, it is more important to understand the ideas than the specific words, however it's never too early to start learning!

I will always give respect and loyalty to my Family, Instructors and my Club.

I will endeavour to attain a high standard of physical fitness, and develop my character and personal integrity.

I will approach others in the spirit of friendship, and heed social ethics at all times.

The Tenets of Taekwondo

While the Junior Oath and Club Oath are specific to Hills District Martial Arts, the Tenets of Taekwondo are known worldwide as the cardinal rules of a Taekwondo Martial Artist. All Taekwondo students are expected to conduct themselves by adhereing to the Tenets of Taekwondo.
