Hills District Martial Arts: Taekwondo, Haidong Gumdo & Hapkido

Hapkido

Our Hapkido class focusses on Self-Defence Striking, Joint Locking and Weapons. Due to the nature of our Hapkido Syllabus, the class is open to students 14 years and older.

Hapkido is a great way to develop greater skill in close quarters against a wide range of attacks. Much of our training is partner based, which assists with real world applications to the techniques you will learn.

What will I learn?

Hapkido focusses on Harmony, Circular Movement and Flowing principals, which makes it suitable for all people regardless of gender or body type. Hapkido students learn to flow with their opponent's energy rather than resist it with pure force.

Joint Locking involves placing pressure on an opponents weaker joints to control and manipulate their body. Many times in real life, attackers are bigger and stronger than their targets. This makes the techniques in Hapkido very useful in real-world scenarios.

The striking and kicking used in our Hapkido program is mostly aimed on exploiting weaknesses, suprising the opponent and inflicting damage. This places a focus on low kicks and explosive striking.
